What is true health - Really?

We have been brought up in a world which teaches us that health is determined by how we "feel." If I "feel" good and have no ill feelings of symptoms or disease, then I assume I'm healthy. If I "feel" bad because of pain, sniffles, nausea, fatigue etc. etc., then I assume I'm unhealthy.

SickBut does this all make sense? If I went to a restaurant and ate bad food, I would hope that my body would respond in a healthy way by getting nausea and even throwing that food up depending on the level of its toxicity. These symptoms would be a healthy response, even though I may say "I'm sick!" Also, common run-of-the-mill pain is a healthy signal in your body that something is wrong, in danger, or being damaged. If I tore a ligament in my ankle, and didn't feel the pain from it, I would then keep re injuring it, preventing it from ever healing and thus establishing a very unhealthy situation; so pain is in fact health at work in our system. It is important to realise that symptoms are in fact health in action.

Have you ever heard of a person who has never had a "sick day" in their life, all of a sudden having a massive heart attack? Or a person who is diagnosed with a terminal illness like cancer but doesn't even know anything is wrong with them? These people obviously have unhealthy systems - even though they may have no symptoms.

Symptoms are our friends, warning us of harm and triggering important responses in our system.

So symptoms tell us very little about our health. They only tell us how we are "feeling."

True health is when every tissue, every organ and every system that makes up my body is functioning at its individual optimum and in optimum harmony with all other tissues, organs and systems.

The key word in all of this is FUNCTION. If we were to go to a restaurant and eat bad food and throw-up - our body is functioning well. If at age 45 we have a heart attack, our body is not functioning well, and it wouldn't have been for a long time leading up to this. So the key to health is function and the function of your system is determined by how well all your cells communicate and interact with each other.

FlowerThis communication is controlled by your brain and nervous system and when nerve impulses travel properly through your body, it works well and remains healthy. Chiropractors help your nervous system to work well by making sure your spine works well, because malfunctioning bones in your spine, or subluxations interfere with normal nerve signal transmissions decreasing your body's ability to function properly. Dr %Surname also works closely with patients to ensure they are looking after external factors like diet, exercise and stress management that can also make your body lose its function over time.

It is therefore said that Health Comes from Within the Body. This is important to understand because once again, the approach to health that our society has taken, teaches us that we can gain health from the Outside-In - by taking drugs and/or cutting people open, removing parts of them and sewing them back together again. While Outside-In intervention is sometimes necessary, if you want to create true health in your system, you have to take an Inside-Out approach.

Chiropractors are dedicated experts at effective Inside-Out intervention and the chiropractic approach has been proven clinically, to increase the function and health of people's bodies every day.

Your body heals naturally, from the inside-out. Just like the expression of life itself.

Be sure to get you and your family assessed chiropractically so you too, can have health how it counts the most - from the Inside of your system expressing Out!
